Octomore 10.2 explores a softer side of smoke than other releases in the range, spending the first four years of its life in bourbon barrels, before being finished in ex-Sauternes casks for a further four years. Aromas of toasted oak, smouldering peat, nectarine, passion fruit and candied lemons fill the nose, complemented by notes of ripe peach, Jelly Babies, dry smoke, toasted oak, clove, orange and honey throughout the palate and lingering in the finish.

    Really good, but, if you’re reaching for Octomore, then you know what you want. Instead you get this. Which you can also get anywhere else, for half the price for an 8 year old.

    If you've never have an Octomore before, start with this. If you are already an Octomore fan, you'll love this. It's a lighter smoke in comparison to some other bottlings but it's incredibly well balanced. Tropical fruit flavours give way to a long sweet candied finish with smouldering sweet peat smoke throughout. This is by far the most enjoyable Octomore I've tasted because the sweet/peat balance is excellent, and the Sauternes cask finish produces such a unique flavour.
