Reg Holder wanted to make wine that imitated the Burgundian idea of a village terroir. This Pinotage gained many accolades and for good reason. The nose delivers a really pretty perfume - raspberry and cherry with a light floral note. The palate is juicy and fresh with notes of bakewell tart and violets. Try this with roasted lamb rack.

Situated in the heart of Valpolicella this fourth generation family winery and vineyards which they farm organically. This is a classic Valpolicella bursting with bright red fruits; cherries and raspberries with a herbaceous note on the palate that leads to hints of liquorice and violets. A perfect pairing with light meat dishes.

This wine is made from Baga a variety indigenous to Portugal, the grapes are foot trodden in large granite lagars and then aged in small oak barrels. On the nose lovely ripe cherry fruit, new leather, powdered dried olives and rose petal. On the palate black cherry, blackberry and smoky fruit with dry sappy tannins. Try this with roast pork or duck, or a lentil stew.

A soft, juicy red wine from Uraguay, made with Tannat grapes, Vina Progresso 2020 vintage Revolution Tannat offers notes of ripe red berries, sweet spices and blackcurrant juice.

This mix of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre – or GSM as it is more commonly known in Australia – is typically big and rich with plenty of fruit. This one has the classic fruit profile of raspberry, cherry, loganberry with some soft spices. Behind this there are notes of pink grapefruit, red apple and a touch of wild herbs.

A fantastic-value-for-money Malbec that is juicy and ripe, packed with bright redcurrants, violets and sweet Indian spices, vanilla and raspberries. A wine for enjoying with friends, by itself or with a juicy burger.

The 2021 vintage Samurai Shiraz from South Australia's Free Run Juice winery, packed with notes of brambles, raspberries, plums, warm spices and black pepper on the palate.

This wine is a real joy to discover, Jean-Baptiste has mainly planted Grenache and very little Syrah, which can cope with the heat of the Southern Rhone. The nose on this wine is very herbaceous with a hint of smoke, black pepper, garrigue and dark berries. The palate has this note of sarsaparilla and sweet rich fruit with dried spices and touches of wormwood. This is a stunningly good wine.

It's fermented in the same way as Champagne, but the dosage is fortified red wine.

From Pedernal Valley in San Juan comes this brooding masterpiece. On the nose dark berry fruits with a hint of savoury spice and liquorice. The palate is full of beautiful lifted fruits, notes of pine and blackcurrant with well-integrated tannins. This is a very complete wine.
