Yamazaki is the first Japanese distillery established 1923. The distillery is situated in the vale of Yamazaki, an area of dense bamboo grooves at the foot of Mt. Tennozan outside Kyoto, Japan’s ancient capital and stronghold of traditional Japanese culture.
The spiced wood arrives first then dried cranberries with a lasting muddle of orange marmalade and honey sweetness.

Very good! Light and crisp. Not overly fruity. Dangerously smooth, great as a slow sipper or shot. Neat or on rock, doesn’t matter. Good stuff will buy again!

As others have said, if you like Speyside this will be right up your street. I saw it in Sainsbury's a few years for £45 and snapped it up, was probably £55-60 here the previous time I bought it. Can't understand why its so much more now. There are better bottles in this range, I can assure you.

I like Yamazaki 12 as I find it quite smooth and relatively easy to drink. Back in the day when you could find a bottle for £60 I would just about stretch to buying one (on a special occasion). But for £135 I just don’t think it’s worth it, you can find whisky which is just as good for far cheaper, and if your budget for a bottle is £135 you can find something truly special! Very pleasant and easy to drink, but not worth the price by a long way.
